Role Overview:
As a Consultant Ophthalmologist at CES Medical, you'll deliver high-quality surgical and medical care within NHS and private practice. You'll join a growing clinical leadership team across cataract, glaucoma, and other eye-care services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead outpatient clinics (cataract, glaucoma, medical retina, oculoplastics as per subspecialty).
• Perform elective and sub-specialist eye surgeries (e.g., cataract, laser, glaucoma).
• Provide emergency eye-care/on-call service in line with CES protocols.
• Engage in multidisciplinary case reviews, governance, audits, and quality improvement.
• Supervise and teach junior clinicians, surgical trainees, and allied health professionals.
• Participate in clinical research, digital innovation initiatives, and service development.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
• Medical degree (MBChB or equivalent), full GMC registration, entry on Specialist Register via CCT or CESR in Ophthalmology.
• Fellow or Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth/MRCOphth).
Desirable Experience:
• Broad surgical experience in cataract and general ophthalmology; subspecialty training advantageous.
• Proficient in diagnostics, treatment planning, and surgical equipment use (microscope, lasers).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and emotional resilience for multidisciplinary work.
• Track record of audits, clinical governance, CPD participation.
• Commitment to teaching, research, and use of digital innovation to improve care.
